Article #65 : Monday Blues

How do you see yourself on a Monday Morning?

Refreshed? Excited? Happy? Or Bored? Frustrated? Sad?  If you fall in the first category, then I must say you are lucky. But if you happen to fall in the second category, then this Article Monday Blues is for you.

Today I am going to depict a story that stresses on the hidden social issue, “Monday Blues”

The story is about a young and dynamic software engineer called Madhav

It's a Sunday night. Madhav is partying hard at a club full of rocking music, lip-smacking drinks and vibrant dance moves. Suddenly, something pops up in his mind, he needs to prepare a presentation for the next day morning. He quickly packs his things and leaves the club.

He starts making the slides at home, but easily gets diverted with messages, calls, social media and what not. Taking as many breaks as he can, finally he completes the presentation at night 3 AM and then goes to sleep. By this time, you would have understood Madhav’s interest on his job.

Madhav feels little hard to sleep as he is worried about the next day. Numerous thoughts surround him making him feel quite uneasy. He even dreams of getting an off on Monday, but as soon as he opens his eyes, he is surprised to see that it is already 8 AM in the morning and he needs to get ready for the office.

By 9 AM, he reaches office with minimum things in hand and maximum thoughts in brain. He feels as if everyone and everything around is talking to him.

Although the security guard simply wishes him Good Morning, Madhav feels as if the guard is saying, “Welcome my son. In front, there is crocodile festival”

He feels as if the lift is talking to him, “Hey Madhav, you are here. I have been waiting for you since last 2 days, come I am here to lift you as well as your mood up”

The swipe machine is also not silent for him, "Madhav, you are already 5 minutes late. Swipe your card, I will open your door to hell”

The first look of his manager towards him conveys so many things for him, “Welcome Madhav, be the partner in my crime. Why should only I have the fun?”

Likewise, Madhav feels as if his table, chair, the phone, the computer, everything is talking with him in their own way.

Madhav finds it hard to wish his colleagues or have a casual talk with them. He reviews his presentation, prepares for it and delivers it. He finds his lunch time or breaks to be a way better than his work time. He eagerly waits for the clock to tick 6 PM so he can leave for the day. His genuine feeling once he is back home, “1 day over, 4 more days to go”

Madhav fits in his job well, he does the work effectively, but somewhere he is not happy with what he does. He finds his interest in Music, most of the times he keeps listening to the music with earphones while working in office. His colleagues feel that Madhav is anti-social guy as he neither speaks anything nor mingles with anyone.

Likewise, 4 more weekdays get completed.

Finally, Madhav’s wait is over. It’s weekend again. He wakes up late with his favorite music in the house and starts dancing out of all the joy and excitement for the weekend. As usual, he visits a nearby club and parties hard till late night. Surprisingly, he sleeps very well without any difficulty on Friday and Saturday nights. His schedule for Sunday remains more or less the same as Saturday.

And then again, the Monday arrives and the Monday Blues remain the same for Madhav.

Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, months turn into years, Madhav’s Monday Blues only keep increasing along with time. He really wants to come out of it, but doesn’t know the way forward.

One fine day he notices an ad while browsing the internet. The ad talks about an academy that offers DJ course for the beginners of all ages. Madhav finds it quite interesting and wants to explore. So, he inquiries about it and starts pursuing the DJ course after his office hours and on weekends.

After 3 months, he gets a chance to perform as a DJ in a reputed club. Madhav rocks all his way and entertains the audience in the club. The Manager at the club is highly impressed with Madhav and offers him a great package to start his career as DJ.

Thinking from all the corners, Madhav decides to quit his job as a software engineer and start his career as DJ.

Everything appears quite surprising for Madhav as he could find a drastic positive change in his life. He is partying at his workplace now. Every night, after the party, Madhav is sleeping happily and even waking up with lot of excitement and enthusiasm.

To his surprise, the Monday blues are not in his life anymore. He is absolutely enjoying those Mondays as he either gets an off or needs to perform at a private party where he can also party. Madhav started socializing with people and made so many new friends. He led his life happily as a DJ forever.

I am sure you would have got the point that I would like to drive home today. Just like Madhav, most of us would have been experiencing those Monday Blues. But if we can have a closer look, those Monday Blues arrive only out of our mindset, only due to our lack of interest on certain things that we do. Once our passion takes over everything, then Monday Blues vanish themselves even without our knowledge.
