Article#12: Music
There’s a saying that Music is divine. Something that cannot be expressed in words can be expressed through Music. And Music has no language. It’s not necessary for someone to understand the lyrics to appreciate the music. It is present everywhere, radio, TV, recreation centres, Stores, schools, roads. In short, life is music. May be the only place where you don’t find any music is library :-). This article talks all about music, its different forms and also presents some of the best soulful songs that should be saved in your playlist.
Music can be defined as an art of sound involving a rhythm made with the help of any of the musical instruments like Guitar, Piano, Violin, Trumpet, Flute, etc... Well, if that is the case, then what about human voice? Don’t you think that it is also a form of musical instrument? It is so. Ever thought on what was the origin of this music? We cannot say from when it started. But roughly can predict that it got out with a blow of air from a hollow stick.
Music is also a way of communication. Did you observe anytime the rhythm made by birds especially the nightingale? May be you would have also tried to join in that music with the bird in your childhood due to which a single voice of yours would have left over :-) Even whales that reside deep down the sea are believed to communicate with each other through music. Also, the insects like cockroaches and lizards present a kind of music. In fact, nature is music. You can just find the sounds made on a roof or on earth when it rains. That is one kind of music. Even the bicycle bell or the bike horn is a type of music. The water flow in a beach or an ocean is music with its own rhythm.
However, we do not enjoy all kinds of music. It just varies based on personal interests. When some are interested in rock music, some other would like to listen only melodious music. But ultimately, there would be reaction from humans after listening to their favourite kind of music. Either they would be humming or singing or even dancing for their favourite tracks. Do you think a human voice is necessarily required for any song to be good? It is not so. A track can become a huge hit just with its rhythm. These were just some of the best and there are lot many good ones that we have.
To share my personal experience with music, it is everlasting. From the start of a hobby to passion, music has always been a part of my life. In my childhood, we used to get the rhythm and buy the movie song books to sing them. During times, when we get an opportunity to sing in school events, I used to give a try. Later, when I was in college, I became one of the known singers in the campus. ‘yedo priyaragam’ from the movie ‘Aarya’, ‘Something Something’ from the movie ‘nuvvostanante nennodantana’, ‘Prapanchame kadanna’ from the movie ‘Bhageeradha’, ‘oka maru’ from the movie ‘Ghajini’, ‘I am very sorry’ from the movie ‘nuvve nuvve’, ‘valukalla vayari’ from the movie ‘mass’, ‘Apudo ipudo’ from the movie ‘Bommarillu’ are some of the songs for which I gave my voice on the stage. Never had I received a prize for anything, but yeah I used to get tremendous response from the audience which was like more than a prize for me. After I entered into my professional life, I had to shake my leg once on stage for ‘chilipiga chustav ala’ from the movie ‘Orange’. Looking forward for a similar opportunity in the nearby future, have to see how it goes :-)
The conclusion here is, we humans tend to believe that we have invented music or it has started with human intelligence. But the fact is that we cannot take the entire credit, we did not create music. It has always been out there, waiting for all of us to discover, to appreciate and to enjoy. However, yes we have worked as something like catalyst and made music more effective, more meaningful and more soulful. A round of applause to all those music directors for their wonderful compositions now and then.
Here is the end of my twelfth article, “Music”. The next article is going to be in an explosive way on a social cause. Keep your fingers crossed, :-) :-)
