Article#2: True Success
Success is something that is actually required for everyone at some point of time to build up their confidence levels, to get well noticed everywhere or in the other way to grow financially. Whatever the reason it is, success is success and you cannot ignore it or at least people around you will not allow you to ignore it. If success has such importance, then what is true success? Is it that there exists true success and false success? Well, I would like to dig deep into this concept in this article.
We are in a place where people are not ready to accept you as you and when it comes to professions, 90% opt to become either engineer or doctor now-a-days. But is it something that they really wanted to become? There lies the issue. We dream of becoming something in our childhood and finally we end up becoming something else. Reasons can be of anything; may it can be due to pressure from someone or it can be due to financial constraints or it can be because of some prestige issues. My point here is will such people become successful as an engineer or doctor? Although they meet with success in that profession, will they be completely satisfied with what they are doing and enjoy the success? The answers would be No. For instance, say Mr. X topped his college with highest percentage. It’s a success for him and people around. But actually Mr. X is not interested in studies, and would like to become an artist or a singer. Although he met with success, he will not be able to take it because he didn’t meet with true success which is something he feels when he achieves it in the area where he is passionate about. It is not necessary that every student has to become a doctor or engineer. Moreover, if that is the case, then why does we have lot many professions apart from those two? A simple comparison here is, if everyone is ready to eat the food, then we don’t have anyone to prepare the food. It’s not just an example, there are people who would like to become a farmer. May not be necessarily a farmer’s son. But usually no one around them are ready to accept that profession and finally they get compromised. There are even people who would like to become a bartender or DJ, but they cannot even express that because they very well know that no one accepts such profession. My thought here is no profession is less and no profession is more. Only difference is you may earn a lot in some professions and not in some other. But Can we guarantee the whopping amount which we may earn remains constantly with us? It may or may not. What remains ultimately is the personal satisfaction which you get by doing your favourite job which no one can steal in fact. We people have our own dreams and they can be big or small, there won’t exist such difference. What counts is to what extent we achieve them and attain true success.
I’m not saying that there’s something wrong with people who deny your dream profession. But the thing is there would be many in those people who themselves compromised to do something else which they were not supposed to. Its jut coming from ages that people feel proud of having a son or daughter who is a successful engineer or doctor.
If you ask me, I never had great thoughts to become a software engineer. I love to become a lecturer, that’s my dream profession. But still I am in this IT industry because that time I was one of those less students who got placed in a top MNC directly from college and before denying something which I haven’t tasted, I thought that I shouldn’t lose such good opportunity and give a try. And I should thank myself now as there are times where I really enjoyed this profession as well because this profession also gave me sometimes a chance to deliver my lectures. When it comes to work, I don’t like procedural one, I usually prefer some troubleshoots/investigations and would like to discover something new so that at the end of the day, I feel much satisfied with my profession. If even this is the case with you, then it is okay to proceed with the way you are going because you found your passion as well as attaining personal satisfaction on the work that you are doing. But if you are not able to enjoy what you do, then its high time to identify yourself on where you are good at and head towards that, may be not immediately but at least in the short term, again conditions apply. You also need to take care of remaining aspects that might lead you into trouble if you leave the current profession.
On the other hand, we face people on a daily basis who only compares us to some known person. I don’t think to any extent, this is good because I believe every one of us are unique, every one of us have our own positives and negatives. Not all the five fingers in your hand are alike, then how can you expect two different humans to be the same? Let’s have an example here. We have Mr. A and Mr. B who are good at Profession X and profession Y respectively. And say, profession X is a very well-known one and profession Y is not. If you ask Mr. B to achieve something in Profession X, how is it possible? Mr. B has his own talent in his own profession and he can reach heights there. If he is not able to do something in profession X, then what’s the big deal? You can even say Mr. A is not rocking in Profession Y. It cannot be the case that there would be some human who doesn’t have any talent. If you really feel about you or any person in that way, then let me correct you. Its only that you yourself haven’t discovered on what you are good at or on what the other person is good at. You know there was a time when I used to feel that I was good for nothing. But now after all these years, I realized what I am and say that I am a package and I am not only good at one thing, but I am really good at lot many things.
The ultimate message is simple. Realize your potential, discover your individual talents and head towards something that you are passionate about or at least see if there exists your passion in the place where you are in. I’m sure you’ll meet with true success and lot of personal satisfaction, thereby you would be on top of the world :-)
Here comes the end of my second article, “True success”. Will get back to you soon with some other interesting concept next time. Till then, keep reading, keep rocking :-) :-)
