Article #84 : A Brooming Bridegroom

How many of you are married here? Great, Did any of you remember that short span of time, maybe 1 or 2 months just before the wedding? Well, today I am going to talk about that phase from the perspective of a Bridegroom who was brooming away his bachelorhood.

Even before you speculate on who is the Brooming Bridegroom of our story today, let me tell you that it's none other than me.

It was April 2022 that I got engaged and the wedding date was fixed in the next month. I started inviting my friends, colleagues, relatives and neighbours for the wedding. I found everyone to be quite happy, not sure if they were genuinely happy for my wedding or they were happy because even I was going to experience the same day to day drama that happens in every household.

Nevertheless, as soon as I started calling my friends they said,

"Giridhar, We need a Bachelor Party"

"What? You have to ask someone who weeps for a glass of wine, not someone who craves for a flask of coconut water"

After that gentle escape in the call, I met my neighbouring aunty who started saying,

"Ah, I knew it. I have been noticing the movements of everyone in your family since last few days, I tried hearing your conversations as well. I understood there's something fishy and my guess was right. Congratulations "

"Thank you Aunty, we expect your gracious presence to my wedding"

"Sure and by the way, you made me wait a long time for this good news. Don't keep me waiting for the next good news. I am sure you can do it "

"What?"

"Yeah, I am saying you can fulfill my wish"

"Aunty, I will catch you later"

I left my home and went to my relatives place who were also excited.

"Giri, happy for you. Now, we are not going to leave you. Every month we will come to your home for lunch"

"But you are anyhow going to have a big fat lunch on the day of my wedding, right! Even before having that, you started negotiating for the next series of lunch events?"

"Mr. Smart Boy, we were just kidding."

After dealing with the oversmart people, I reached office and went straight to my manager's cabin.

"Giridhar, that's great. This calls for a treat"

"Sir, if you don't mind, I will give you the treat as soon as I get my pending promotion"

"Uh ok. How many days of leave do you need?"

"2 weeks"

"2 weeks? Take 3 weeks to complete your pre, during and post wedding activities, one week for each"

After successful approval of leaves, I returned home and felt that I should work on my looks.

As I reached the saloon, the Barber said,

"Sir, Pinch me"

"But why?"

"You want to apply dye finally "

"Yeah what to do, it's my wedding next month"

"Sir, I wish you marry every month. Otherwise you don't care about your hair"

"I understood your love is in the air for my hair"

With all these kinds of experiences along with many other thoughts about future, family, society and of course, drama I broomed that phase of my life and became the brooming bridegroom.

But now I understood that while the actual story after the wedding can be like the two sides of a coin, this small phase before the wedding as you heard my story, usually has only one side. So, let's embrace it with open arms by not thinking much about the other side of the coin. What do you say?
